3. What was the proposed 14th colony?

According to Michael Triklen’s 2010 book, Lost States, there was a proposed 14th colony that consisted mostly of West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, and the Pittsburg, Pennsylvania area. This was about 100 years prior to the Civil War. The term “Vandal” was in honor of the Queen of England who was a descendant of Vandals. The name was later suggested “Westlyvania.” However, both Virginia and Pennsylvania claimed the territory and blocked this new colony.
